6. Now, that you have a website of your very own, reflect about your own website adn what will you change, what do you like about it and what do you dislike.

Overall, I like my website. However, I would like to change some things. I would like to add a background to make it a little more colorful. I also would like to change some pages. I didn’t have time to change a lot of things but this will be a work in progress. I would like to add more things for my parents and I would like to get my resume and philosophy posted. I would also like to add some class pictures from my internship. Developing a website is a work in progress and it requires time. I really like the colors I have chose and when Christmas is over I will be adding some new teacher templates. I loved creating the website and now that I have the hang of it, I will be editing and revising it. I also like the buttons and I love the pictures. I would also like to add some animated graphics (I haven’t figured out how to do this yet but I will). Take a look www.joleens.info

5. Take time and view your classmates websites, what three are your favorites and why?

My three most favorite teacher websites are http://www.fairpoint.net/~ksstockton/Sharon%20Stockton%20Website/

I really liked Sharon’s website. The colors are very eye pleasing and not too busy. The buttons are also the same size. I also like her title.

I also liked Laura’s website. I am a woman so I look for things that are pleasing to the eye and organized. I also like simple pages and those that are not too busy. Good Job Laura! I really like all the things that she included on her website and it definitely gave me some ideas.

Last but not least, I really liked Paul’s website. I love love love the picture of the computer. Students would find this fun. His website is simple but includes many different things. I like how he has his buttons arranged and I love his pages.

4. What was your favorite Podcast Presenter and why?

December 4, 2007 by · No Comments · Tech390

I would have to say my favorite podcast presenter was Kevin Honeycutt. I really enjoyed listening to his analogies. He is always comparing things in education with things that happen in life. He has a sense of humor and I like the fact that his pod-casts are video. I find it interesting that he pod-casts while driving! I would really like to see him speak in person. I also like the fact that his pod-casts are not long because I think when you get too long of pod-casts people tend to loose attention and that is my problem. Sweet and to the point is what I am after and I think Kevin does a nice job here.

3. What tool do you think you will use personally outside your classroom?

December 4, 2007 by · No Comments · Tech390

There are two tools that I can think of that I will continue to use personally. I plan on using the Google calender and notebook. I am going to me student teaching next semester and my schedule will be very busy. I want a way to keep my self organized and be able to access my calender from anywhere. I also plan on using the notebook to help me while I am researching things for class. I will I would have known about this earlier as it would have saved me a lot of time. I like the fact that I can share the notebook and can access it from anywhere. I will also be using my website personally as I want prospective employers to view it. This might help me land that perfect job!

2. What tools will you use in the future or keep using and why?

December 4, 2007 by · No Comments · Tech390

There are many tools that I will keep using and use in the future. One tool I will keep using is the toondoo. This is a cool tool that I can use has a fun way to create concepts for my students to learn. I would also like for them to create a story using this tool. I know this is something students would purely enjoy. I am student teaching next year and I hope to use it in the classroom. A tool that I will use in the future is podcasting. I would like to podcast some of the things in my classroom and then post it on my website. I would like to post reminders and lessons. I think it would help those students that need to listen to the lesson as a reinforcement or re-teaching. It would also allow parents to listen and provide them with the knowledge to help their children. I will definitely use my website now and in the future. I am going to continue updating it so that prospective employers can view it. I will also use it in my classroom. It can provide a wealth of information to parents, students, and even other educators. I also will continue to use voice thread. I plan on using this during student teaching and when I am teaching my science unit. What do you think? Do you have any suggestions? There are so many cool tools to mention and I know I have forgotten to mention them.

1. Five Things that made me….

December 4, 2007 by · No Comments · Tech390

This course has been full of many learning experiences. My big AHA moment was when I finally posted my website. I have always wondered how people created their websites and what the process was. I finally found out in this course. It is truly amazing and I am going to keep building my website. My second aha moment was when I finally created a movie and figured out how to make the buttons visible. I also had trouble with the sound and once I figured this out, I had a wonderful story about Figbert. The third thing I learned about was the new cool tools from the K-12 conference. My most favorite tool is toondoo. I love this tool and I will use it to teach my students. I am also going to show my mentor teacher how to use it. I also found the virtual field trip interesting. I used voice thread to make my virtual field trip and this was really cool. I will be teaching a unit on the solar system and I am going to have my students use this tool to present the phases of the moon. They will be teaching each other as well as themselves. Another aha moment was when I discovered all the possibilities with podcasting. You can even use your own cell phone to podcast! In my mind, I was thinking okay it would awesome to be able to podcast but how much does it cost? Well, all you need is a cell phone and most people have them.
